Brendan Taylor on Monday came front and spoke about the incident that happened with him which might lead him to a multi-year ban. Taylor was involved in a spot-fixing, which according to Brendan was initiated by an Indian businessman who offered him $15,000 as a deposit and promised to pay another $20,000 when the job was complete. Brendan clearly stated that he did not cheat in the game he respects the most but also was scared to come forward and talk about him. The delay in approaching ICC’s anti-corruption department might lead to a multi-year ban on his cricketing career.

The delay in approaching ICC was not intentional as Taylor was scared about his security as well as his family’s safety. The Indian businessman who initiated the match-fixing deal had blackmailed Brendan. Inviting Brendan to a celebratory party, Brendan was offered cocaine from some ‘men’ and in foolishness Brendan took it. The same ‘men’ came next morning to his room with a video that revealed Brendan taking cocaine and blackmailed him that if he does not agree to the ‘spot-fixing’ deal, they might release this video of him which could have destroyed his life one way or the another.

The 35 – year-old former captain of Zimbabwe seeks support from his friends and family in these hard times and Ashwin too tweets to pray for him and his family in these critical situations. The stress taken by Brendan has led to a diagnosis with shingles and he was also prescribed anti-psychotic medication, as stated by Brendan via Twitter.
