Ashok Dinda retires from all forms of cricket at the age of 36

Former Indian pacer Ashok Dinda announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. He made his international debut in 2009 in a T20I match against Sri Lanka at Nagpur. The 33-year old former pacer was part of Bengal in domestic cricket. He played his last match which was an ODI in 2013 against England. The pacer then took two crucial wickets of Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan. From then he is struggling to get a chance in the Indian squad.

In his international career, he played 13 ODIs and nine T20Is for men in blue. He has a total of 12 and 17 wickets in ODIs and T20Is respectively at an average of 51 and 14.41. The pacer’s first international wicket was Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya.

He had a successful domestic career and he was also part of many franchises in the Indian Premier League. Delhi Daredevils, Rising Pune Supergiants, Pune Warriors, Royal Challengers Bangalores are the franchise pacer represented in the Indian Premier League. He has a career of 78 IPL matches in which he picked 68 wickets at an economy rate of 8.22. The best bowling figure for the bowler in IPL was 4 for 18.

He did a great job in domestic cricket but failed to make his name at the international level. He played a total of 116 first-class cricket where he picked 420 wickets at an average of 28.28 with 26 five-wicket hauls and five 10-wicket match-hauls. Also, he finished his career being Bengal’s second most successful bowler after Utpal Chatterjee.
