With the win in the first ashes test match by 2 wickets over England, the Australian side has started day 1 of the second test with a great start.
There were a few changes in both sides for the second test as Josh Tongue comes into the team in place of Moenn Ali for England and Mitchell Satrc comes into the team in place of Scott Boland.
With England winning the toss, they chose to bowl first and had Australia play. The Australian team is on 339 at the end of the first day. David Warner who was not in good form in the first test played an excellent innings of 66 before getting bowled on an unplayable delivery by Josh Tongue.
Khwaja who was in great momentum got bowled out early on 17 by Josh Tongue. Labuschagne and Travis Head both played excellent knocks of 47 and 77 respectively before returning to the pavilion. Steve Smith and Alex Carey remained not out on the first day with Smith scoring 85 and Carey playing on 11 runs.
The England bowlers weren’t that impactful on the first day as James Anderson and Stuart Broad didn’t get any wickets on the first day whereas the new addition Josh Tongue got two big wickets of Warner and Khawaja, Joe Root got two big wickets of Cameron Green and Travis head, and Robinson got a wicket of Labuschagne.
With the conclusion of the first day of the second test, the Australian team is looking strong for the first day, but no one can tell what will happen in cricket, so enjoy the Ashes.
