Ashes 5th Test: Sam billings the debutant, England elected to field

England won the toss and elected to field first in the last Test of the Ashes after making some tweaks in their playing eleven and Scott Boland passes a late fitness test to be available for Australia.

The visitors won the toss and chose to field first on Friday after making many changes in their lineup (5) and Scott Boland was allowed to play for Aussies after having an injury issue before the Test match.

Jonny Bairstow, who got injured in the previous Test at Sydney while helping England to be even in the contest, also a new injury added to the list was Jos Buttler (broken finger) who misses out on this final Test of the series.

England seemed to be not happy with opener Haseeb Hameed who is in poor form during this series and as a result, was dropped from the eleven. Jack Leach & Jimmy Anderson were also not part of the team.

“It is frustrating. It’s something we’ve to battle throughout the whole pandemic,” England skipper Joe Root said after winning the toss.”Something we have tried to manage as best we can”.

Rory Burns who was removed from the eleven due to bad performance in the series has been called back into the side to open for England.

Ollie Pope will bat at number 6 in the void created by Bairstow who is missing this Test match and Sam billings will be assigned the wicketkeeping duties in his debut who was presented with his cap by maestro paceman Anderson.

Boland who had sore ribs after a bowling mishap in the previous game passed his fitness test. Australia has sealed the series after winning the first three test matches of the series.
