Ashes 2022 – Josh Hazelwood out of series due to side strain

The paceman, Hazelwood has been ruled out of the series after the side strain.

Coach Justin Langer expects that the pacer would return to limited-overs fixtures against Blackcaps in the series ahead after the Ashes series. Hazelwood was the part of the Gabba test match where Australia registered 9 wickets victory.

“Unfortunately, Hazelwood does not play the final test match. But we expected him to be back for the test match. We are optimistic that Josh returns to limited-overs fixtures against Blackcaps,” Langer said to cricket Australia

“He’s our frontline fast bowler and expected to play complete series like others,” Langer said

Though Australia has 3-0 unassailable leads and did miss the services of Josh Hazelwood after the first test match. In the second test match, Jhye Richardson’s brilliant performance took his side over the line. While in the third test match, Scott Boland’s sensational stuff of bowling dragged the opposition into the trash box.

Boland has retained his place for the fourth test match and Australia has declared their first innings at the score of 416 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Usman Khawaja marks his test return with a flawless century in the fourth test match. In reply, England has scored 258/7 at the stumps of day 3 with the contributions of Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow who remained unbeaten after the century.
