Andy Flower contender for Rajasthan Royals as IPL teams seek new coaches

IPL teams are actively seeking new coaches for the upcoming season. After the recruitment of Justin Langer by Lucknow Super Giants, SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals are now in search of coaching talents.

Reports suggest that Andy Flower, recently released by LSG, is a contender for the Royals coaching position, and he is also in discussions with another team. While no official confirmation has been made, speculations about potential discussions between Flower and the Royals have sparked interest in the IPL circle.

However, it is believed that Kumar Sangakkara, the current director of the Royals, will retain his position irrespective of the outcome of the talks.

Flower’s strong track record in leading teams to success in franchise leagues has made him a desirable candidate. Meanwhile, there are uncertainties surrounding Brian Lara’s position as head coach of SunRisers Hyderabad, as the franchise seems dissatisfied with his coaching style.

In the case of Royal Challengers Bangalore, the management has not initiated a review of their 2023 season performance, and contracts for team director Mike Hesson and head coach Sanjay Bangar remain intact.

Though Flower’s impressive credentials may make him a compelling choice, the Bangalore franchise’s decision-making process is known for being meticulous, thus requiring more time to reach a conclusive verdict on their coaching staff.
