After the resignation of Justin Langer, Cricket Australia hired a new face for the post of head coach. Andrew McDonald, the former Australia player, has been selected as the head coach for the upcoming series, although he himself has not spoken to CA about it yet.
Langer, who led Cricket Australia to their first ever T-20 World Cup in November and dominating 4-0 Ashes win against England, has ruled out a short-term extent and put his concession earlier this period of month.
“I haven’t had any conversations in any way.” “It’s really reducing the interim role till the end of Pakistan (tour) and working on the preparations, working on the team.
“Whatever time frame they (Cricket Australia) want to do, I am very happy with it. It won’t be distracting, it will just be happening in the background,” he said.
While earlier on Monday cricket Australia board said in an interaction,
“Obviously I have to decide before that whether the process goes according to the timeline that Cricket Australia is giving,” McDonald said.
Former England coach Trevor Bayliss, who has also been tied up with Australia’s head coach post in an interaction with Sydney Morning Herald on Tuesday said that when asked if he has been interviewed for the position, “no contact” as of now has happened.
