Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss & decided to bat first. The women in blue scored a decent total of 116/7 in the first innings. Both Smriti Mandana (46 off 40) & Jemimah Rodrigues (42 off 40) gave India a balanced start for the second wicket. unfortunately, the death overs favoured Lankans & the scored was restricted from what was expected.

However, India’s Titas Sadhu broke Sri Lanka’s backbone by taking a double wicket in her first over. She later came back with a bang on by dismissing Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu, reducing Sri Lanka to 15/3.

Rajeshwari Gaikwad did the rest by claiming two crucial wickets and breaking partnership of Hasini Perera & Nilakshi de Silva. This is when the game was in India’s favour & the bowling unit managed to keep it the same till the very end.

India claimed a stunning win in the finals after restricting Sri Lanka to 97/8.
