Afghanistan wins the first match of a three-match one-day international series as they beat the Netherlands by 36 runs. The right arm leg break bowler expert, Rashid khan pulls Afghanistan down by taking 3 wickets and bagging the first win of the series in Doha on Friday.
Scores of Hashmatullah Shahidi (73) and Rahmat Shah (70) benefitted Afghanistan to reach the scoreboard of 222-8 after losing the toss and put to bat first.
But Dutch bowlers like Fred Klaassen taking 2-39 and Brandon Glover taking 3-43, held the Netherlands team strong and did not let Afghanistan reach beyond 222 runs.
Netherlands wicketkeeper and batsman, Scott Edwards kept the hope steady for the team by scoring 68 off 82 balls as they had a great start to reach their target by 121-3.
But Afghanistan’s right-arm off-break bowler, Mujeeb Ur Rahman shatters the hope of the Netherlands by dismissing Scott Edwards in the 31st over that disintegrated them to 186 all out.
Netherland’s Captain Pieter Seelaar also contributed 32 runs before he got dismissed by Yamin Ahmadzai, leaving the team to chase 71 runs off the last 10 overs.
The second match of the series is held on Sunday following the final match on January 25. The series is a part of the World Cup Super League, which will decide the qualifiers for the ICC World Cup 2023.
