Afg vs Zim 2nd Test: Afghanistan crosses 200-run mark

Afghanistan crosses the 200-run mark as left-handed batsman Hashmatullah Shahidi scored his second fifty in Test cricket, while Captain Asghar Afghan brings up his fourth against Zimbabwe on the first day of the second Test series held at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, UAE.

Earlier Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. The Shahidi and Afghan brought their 100 run partnership in 69.3 overs with Shahidi contributing 56 runs off 162 deliveries and Afghan scoring 54 runs off 79 balls.

The Zimbabwean bowlers seem helpless against the two Afghani batsmen. Though Afghanistan lost their first wicket early in the match with Javed Ahmadi being caught by Sean Williams off Victor Nyauchi’s bowling in the second over.

After scoring some runs, Rahmat Shah was run out leaving Afghanistan on 56 for two after which Ibrahim Zadran was caught with the bowling of Ryan Burl after he scored 72 runs off 130 balls. The score was at 12 for three after which Shahidi and Afghan took over.

The first Test saw Zimbabwe defeat Afghanistan by ten wickets.
