Ningbo, China, April 8, 2026  India’s badminton sensation Lakshya Sen is locked in a high-stakes Round of 32 clash against Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu at the Badminton Asia Championships 2026. The match on Court 3 has been intense, with Lee taking the first game 21-12, but Sen remains firmly in contention as the Indian star eyes a strong comeback.

Lakshya Sen, the 24-year-old Almora shuttler and two-time All England Open finalist, entered the tournament as one of India’s top medal hopes. Fresh off impressive performances on the BWF circuit, Sen faces a familiar rival in Lee Cheuk Yiu (world No. around 18-22), who holds a slight 3-2 head-to-head edge, including recent wins. However, Sen’s superior fitness, explosive smashes, and tactical maturity make him the favorite to turn this around.

In the opening game, Lee started aggressively, using quick drops and precise net play to build an early lead. Sen showed flashes of brilliance with sharp rallies but struggled to find rhythm initially. The score reached 21-12 in favor of the Hong Kong player, highlighting Lee’s defensive resilience and counter-attacking prowess. Yet, this is far from over badminton matches often hinge on momentum shifts, and Sen has proven time and again his ability to dominate in longer rallies.

Live Hopes for a Sen Comeback

As the second game unfolds, Indian fans are optimistic. Sen’s recent form including deep runs in major events suggests he can dominate the pace. Coach U. Vimal Kumar noted the challenge but backed Sen’s endurance for tough three-game battles. A win here would set up a potential blockbuster against China’s Shi Yu Qi, boosting India’s men’s singles campaign.
