Real Madrid interim head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has brushed aside speculation about his position beyond the 2025-26 season, insisting his sole priority is delivering strong performances in the club’s final seven La Liga fixtures.

In a recent press interaction, Arbeloa stated clearly:

“I am not worried at all about my future; what concerns me is these seven remaining matches, especially the first one tomorrow. That is the only thing on my mind and I think it is the only important thing for Real Madrid.”

The former Real Madrid defender, who took charge of the first team in January 2026 after Xabi Alonso’s departure, emphasized that he remains fully committed to the players and the club’s immediate goals.

Context: A Challenging 2025-26 Season for Los Blancos

Arbeloa stepped into the hot seat mid-season and has worked to stabilize the side following a turbulent period. However, Real Madrid have already been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League (following a quarter-final exit against Bayern Munich) and the Copa del Rey, leaving La Liga as their only realistic path to silverware this campaign.

With Barcelona holding a significant lead at the top of the table, the pressure is on Arbeloa’s men to secure maximum points from the remaining matches to keep any faint title hopes alive and finish the season on a high note.

The upcoming fixtures include crucial La Liga encounters, starting with the “first one tomorrow” that Arbeloa highlighted — widely understood to be the home clash against Deportivo Alavés on April 21, 2026, followed by the trip to Real Betis on April 24.
