Arshdeep hits 100 IPL wickets as MI collapse early again

Arshdeep Singh reached a major milestone, picking up his 100th IPL wicket during a damaging opening spell against Mumbai Indians. He removed Ryan Rickelton and then Suryakumar Yadav in consecutive deliveries, putting MI under immediate pressure after Punjab Kings chose to bowl. He reached 100 IPL wickets in just 87 matches, joining Sandeep Sharma among the fastest pacers to the milestone.

The first wicket came when Rickelton miscued a leg-side delivery to deep square leg. It was not a threatening ball, but the result gave Arshdeep his landmark moment. On the very next delivery, Suryakumar Yadav edged behind, leaving MI stunned at 12 for 2 inside three overs.

Mumbai Indians were already without Rohit Sharma, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury, and the top order again looked unsettled. Quinton de Kock tried to counter early with a six, but there was little support at the other end as Arshdeep kept control with swing and discipline.

Marco Jansen created pressure from the other end, but it was Arshdeep who changed the game in a single spell. Punjab Kings backed their decision at the toss, with the pitch offering early movement under lights.

Is MI’s top order falling apart without Rohit at the top?

The early collapse again exposed Mumbai Indians’ dependence on experienced anchors. With Rohit missing and wickets falling in clusters, their innings lost direction before it could even settle. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, seized control early and did not let go.
