Delhi Capitals are set to be without Mitchell Starc for at least three more matches in IPL 2026, with the left-arm quick managing a shoulder and elbow injury. The development comes ahead of their April 11 fixture against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai.
Starc set to miss more games, blow for DC
Delhi have started well, registering back-to-back wins with comfortable chases in both games. The batting unit has looked settled, with contributions across the order. Sameer Rizvi has stood out in particular, playing key roles in both run chases and adding stability in the middle overs.
Despite the strong start, Starc’s absence leaves a gap in the bowling attack. His ability to strike early and control phases of the innings has been central to Delhi’s plans. Without him, the side will have to adjust its combinations, especially in conditions that could favour bowlers in Chennai.
Bowling options under focus
With Starc unavailable, Delhi may look at alternatives such as Dushmantha Chameera or T Natarajan to fill the role. Both offer different skill sets, but neither brings the same experience or impact as Starc.
The team’s bowling unit has done a fair job so far, but the lack of a lead pace option could be tested in the upcoming matches. Managing overs in the powerplay and at the death will be key areas of concern.
While Delhi remain well placed after two wins, the next phase of the tournament could be more demanding. Starc’s continued absence will require others to step up if they are to maintain their early momentum.
