The Indian Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the decision to grant subsidy worth Rs 3,500 crore subsidy to sugar farmers, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Wednesday.
Prakash Javadekar announced at a press conference that 60 lakh tonnes of sugar is meant to exported.
He added “5 crore sugarcane farmers will benefit from Cabinet’s decision on sugar and that farmers will get subsidy directly in their account.”
“CCEA has also granted approval to tge revised cost estimate of North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project for six states to strengthen the intra-state transmission & distribution systems,”said Javadekar.
To build additional transmission lines as long as 2,100 km, 36 new sub stations in 6 of the North-eastern states have been made. The building of the new transmission lines of 2,100 KM & distribution lines of 2,000 KM is to be a part of plan which will be equally funded by the Indian Government & World Bank
