Who is Aarthi Subramanian? Know about TCS’ new President and COO with over 28 years of global tech experience

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services firm, has announced the appointment of Aarthi Subramanian as its new President and Chief Operating Officer, effective May 1, 2025. The leadership shuffle comes at a time when TCS is reworking its global strategy to tackle a challenging economic landscape and evolving digital priorities.

A seasoned technology professional, Aarthi Subramanian brings with her more than 28 years of experience in the global technology sector. Prior to this elevation, she served as the Group Chief Digital Officer at Tata Sons, where she reported directly to the Group Executive Chairman. She was also a Board member of TCS, making her a familiar name within the Tata ecosystem.

Ms. Subramanian began her career at TCS as a graduate trainee in 1989. Over the years, she rose through the ranks, serving as an analyst, project manager, and later transitioning into account management and senior leadership roles. Her global exposure includes key assignments in India, Sweden, the US, and Canada, where she led consulting projects and managed large-scale technology and operational programs.

Before her role at Tata Sons, she was the Global Head of Delivery for the Retail & CPG Business Unit at TCS for seven years, where she managed strategic accounts and played a key role in client delivery excellence. She was widely regarded for her customer-centric approach, operational discipline, and emphasis on proactive value delivery.

Aarthi holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from NIT Warangal and a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Kansas, USA.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Ms. Subramanian is known for her passion for fitness, as well as her interests in music, movies, and reading management literature.

Her return to the executive ranks at TCS is seen as a strategic move to strengthen execution, sharpen focus on digital transformation, and drive operational discipline in FY26 and beyond.
