Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was highly praised for his role as MS Dhoni, in the biopic of former Indian Cricket Team Captain, M.S. Dhoni. In order to play his role perfectly, Sushant Singh Rajput went to the extremes. He started spending time with the cricketer and he tried to understand how he behaves being in order to mould his personality into the player’s. The actor moulded himself in such a good manner that once, a man mistook him as the cricket player when Sushant Singh Rajput was practising for the biopic.
Remembering the incident, SSR’s college friend, Vishad Dubey, has shared a story of the late actor’s life as the biopic, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, has completed 4 years of its release. Vishad shared a video of Sushant Singh Rajput doing net practice for Cricket. He took to his Instagram, and while sharing the video, he chose to mention a quote by APJ Abdul Kalam which reads, “To become ‘unique,’ the challenge is to fight the hardest battle which anyone can imagine until you reach your destination.” He further wrote, “One of the videos , I edited as a twitter friend wanted to do some activity close to the release of the movie and requested me to provide an unseen footage. Anecdote – For 10 months straight , we use to practice for hours together to first get the cricketing skills right and later finetune the nuances of mannerisms to imbibe #MSDhoni .”
He also shared a funny incident during the days of his net practice with More Sir and wrote, “Once in MCA ( I think we were already into the 7th month of practice ) Sushant was going through his routine of hitting shots with a straight bat (as directed by Kiran More Sir) being bowled at by young Ranji players. What we were unaware of was that there was a man sitting in the balcony and keenly observing. Later , during the day the man comes down and asks Kiran More Sir , that which state this person (Sushant in his kit , so aptly unrecognizable ) plays for. More Sir laughs and says he is Sushant , the actor who is portraying MS in the movie. The Man was surprised. Soon after the niceties were exchanged between Sushant and the man himself – #SachinTendulkar and I quickly whisper in Sushant’s ear- ” Kya din aagaye bachpan se ; aaj hum khel rahe aur sachin dekh raha (ignore the casual reference) He smiled and said , “yehi to asli success hai . ” – your childhood heroes becoming your admirers.”
