Kochi, March 29: Malyalam actor Dileep is being interrogated for the second day by a Crime Branch team at Aluva Police Club here on Tuesday. The actor is being probed in the presence of Director Balachandra Kumar, in connection with a fresh case charged against him for allegedly threatening investigation officials probing the 2017 actress assault case.
Earlier, the actor alleged that the non-bailable case against him was fabricated with ulterior motives and claimed that there was no evidence to prove the case filed against him on the basis of a statement made by Director Balachandra Kumar. Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday denied bail to Pulsar Suni, who allegedly sexually assaulted the actress in a moving car in Kochi in 2017. Rejecting the bail application, Justice PV Kunhikrishnan said the bail cannot be granted at this stage. In his plea, Pulsar Suni stated that he was facing threat from prison.
Pulsar Suni is the main accused in the case, in which 10 others, including Malayalam actor Dileep, were allegedly involved. Earlier, the High Court had refused to quash the FIR filed against the actor, who also sought transfer of the ongoing Crime Branch probe to CBI, alleging that the aggrieved parties in the case were some senior state police officials. On February 21, the Court allowed the survivor in the 2017 actress assault case to implead in the case in which Malayalam actor Dileep was opposing further probe. The actress argued that Dileep has no right to demand quashing of re-investigation in the fresh case, registered against him and five others. The actress, who was allegedly sexually assaulted in a moving car in Kochi in 2017, approached the court soon after Dileep was granted anticipatory bail in the case.
