Sunny Deol’s Gadar: Ek Prem Katha has been a blockbuster hit since its release in 2001. The film broke several records and was renowned throughout the nation. After a 22-year-old hiatus, Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol decided to create history again with a sequel to the film. The second part was a blockbuster again with Sunny, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles.
The film turned out to be one of the highest-grossing films of 2023 and made a remarkable statement. Gadar 2 had a face-off with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and despite the tough combat, the movie succeeded with flying colours. The second instalment ended with a promise of Gadar 3.
According to a report, the makers of the franchise have been contemplating on varied range of ideas for the prequel. However, they have decided to stay with the actual aura of the past two films as well. The third instalment will also have a similar backdrop set against the India and Pakistan rivalry.
The makers have decided on the basic plot twist for Gadar 3 and how eventually it will resonate with the prior instalments as well. The script work will be done subsequently, making sure how Tara Singh, Sakina and Jeete’s story with move forward. If everything goes according to the plans, the film will go on floors in 2025.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Sunny Deol was last seen in Gadar 2. He started shooting for Lahore: 1947. Then he will commence shooting for the role of lord Hanuman in Ramayana. Following that, the actor will reprise his role in the sequel of his 1997 film Border.
