Ajit Mohan, the head of Meta Platforms’ India division, resigned today in order to explore a different opportunity. Mr. Mohan is reportedly joining Snap, a competing social networking app.
“Ajit has decided to step down from his role at Meta to pursue another opportunity outside of the company,” Nicola Mendelsohn, Vice President of Global Business Group at Meta, said in a statement.
As of January 2019, Ajit Mohan was the managing director of Facebook India. Over 200 million new users joined WhatsApp and Instagram in India during his visit to the country.
Mr. Mohan spent four years as the CEO of Star India’s Hotstar video streaming service before joining Meta.
