
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has recently informed exchanges that the company secured a significant contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco) worth Rs 8,000 crore for the supply, erection, and commissioning of the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) package at the Koradi Thermal Power Station in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The Letter of Award, issued on February 7, 2025, covers the development of two 660 MW units (Units 11 & 12), reinforcing BHEL’s leadership in the Indian power sector.
This contract was awarded through a local competitive bidding process, underscoring BHEL’s expertise in delivering large-scale thermal power projects. The scope of work includes equipment supply, civil works, erection, commissioning, and successful performance guarantee testing of both units. As per the agreement, Unit 11 is expected to be completed within 52 months, while Unit 12 will be operational in 58 months from the date of the award.
The contract aligns with India’s growing focus on enhancing power generation capacity to meet rising electricity demands. BHEL’s advanced engineering capabilities and commitment to quality will ensure the efficient execution of this project, contributing to reliable and sustainable power infrastructure in the region.
In the meantime, BHEL shares closed yesterday at ₹202.41, after opening at ₹205.00. The stock hit a high of ₹206.40 and a low of ₹201.30 during the session. It remains well below its 52-week high of ₹335.35 but above the 52-week low of ₹184.14.
