Indonesian Ministry launches digital business training for 200 Papuan entrepreneurs

The program is part of a broader effort to stimulate economic activity and support small businesses in Papua, a region traditionally underserved in terms of digital infrastructure and resources. With a focus on practical skills and real-world applications, the training includes modules on setting up online stores, utilizing social media for business promotion, and managing digital transactions.

In a bid to bolster economic development in Papua, the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises has initiated a comprehensive digital business training program for 200 local entrepreneurs. The program, designed to enhance digital literacy and business acumen, aims to equip Papuan entrepreneurs with the skills necessary to thrive in the increasingly digital economy.

The training program, which commenced this week, focuses on various aspects of digital entrepreneurship, including e-commerce, digital marketing, and online business management. By providing practical workshops and hands-on training, the initiative seeks to bridge the technological gap and empower local business owners to leverage digital platforms for growth and sustainability.

Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki, emphasized the importance of this initiative in transforming Papua’s economic landscape. “Empowering local entrepreneurs with digital skills is crucial for fostering innovation and economic resilience in Papua,” Masduki said.

The training is expected to not only enhance individual business capabilities but also contribute to the broader economic development of Papua by increasing the region’s participation in the national and global digital economy. Successful completion of the program will provide participants with certificates and ongoing support to implement their newly acquired skills.

As Indonesia continues to push for inclusive economic growth, such initiatives are vital in ensuring that remote and underserved regions like Papua are integrated into the country’s digital economy, paving the way for more equitable development opportunities.
