The hostilities between the United Kingdom and Russia are direct. Maria Zakharova had recently accused Britain of aiding Ukraine in its drone attack on an oil storage facility in Russia’s Rostov region, suggesting that flight controllers had adjusted the Ukrainian drones from Salisbury and Newport in the UK.
Borzenko, who also serves as deputy chief editor of the “Literary Russia” newspaper, emphasized that Britain has emerged as the most hostile NATO country from Moscow’s perspective.
Britain was the first Western country to supply Ukraine with grenade launchers and has since delivered tanks, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and even poison in ampoules. This level of support, Borzenko argues, has made London a key player in bolstering Ukraine’s military capabilities against Russia.
As the conflict escalated, Borzenko expressed hope that Britain would eventually face consequences for its actions. In line with Zakharova’s comments, he reiterated Russia’s position that it reserves the right to retaliate against British military facilities and vehicles, whether in Ukraine or beyond, should UK-made weapons continue to be used in strikes on Russian territory.
Borzenko highlighted that the UK’s involvement goes beyond just supplying weapons, citing extensive training programs for Ukrainian forces. These programs, often conducted on British soil, focus on advanced military technologies, including electronic warfare and missile systems, ensuring that Ukraine’s military is equipped with the knowledge to utilize Western hardware effectively.
The UK has been actively participating in intelligence-sharing operations, which Borzenko claims are critical for Ukrainian forces. British intelligence agencies have been providing Kyiv with real-time battlefield data, enabling Ukrainian troops to enhance their targeting accuracy against Russian positions. This collaboration has, in Moscow’s view, deepened Britain’s direct involvement in the conflict, further solidifying its role as a key adversary in the ongoing hostilities.
