The Russian Army launched an Iskander missile strike on the command post of Ukraine’s 63rd Brigade in Krasny Liman, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported on Friday.
The high-precision missile attack reportedly destroyed the command post along with its operational personnel. The Ministry of Defence detailed the aftermath, stating that two command and staff vehicles, ten aircraft-type drones, and more than 300 drones were obliterated in the strike.
“This targeted operation successfully neutralized a critical command post of Ukraine’s 63rd Brigade,” the Ministry’s statement read. “The strike aimed to disrupt the operational capabilities of the brigade and eliminate key assets that have been instrumental in recent hostilities.”
The Iskander missile, known for its precision and destructive capability, was deployed to ensure the comprehensive destruction of the command post. The attack marks one of the more significant uses of this missile system in the conflict, highlighting the escalating use of advanced weaponry on both sides.
The Ukrainian government has not yet responded officially to the reported strike. However, this development is likely to inflame further the already intense hostilities between the two nations, which have been locked in conflict since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the subsequent war in Eastern Ukraine.
The destruction of the command post and its assets represents a substantial blow to Ukraine’s military infrastructure in the region. The 63rd Brigade has been actively involved in defensive operations and has played a crucial role in countering Russian advances in the area.
International observers have expressed concern over the potential for further escalation following this latest strike. The use of advanced missile systems like the Iskander underscores the high stakes and the intensity of the ongoing military engagements.
As the situation continues to complicate, the international community remains watchful, urging both sides to exercise restraint and seek diplomatic solutions to avoid further bloodshed and instability in the region.
