Russian air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a significant array of Ukrainian aerial threats in a series of operations over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defence. The intercepted arsenal included four Tochka-U tactical missiles, two Hammer guided bombs, and an unprecedented 147 drones.
The Ministry reported that the interceptions took place across various sectors of the ongoing conflict, highlighting the increasing intensity of aerial engagements. The Tochka-U missiles, a Soviet-era tactical ballistic weapon, were reportedly targeting strategic positions within Russian-held territories. The precise interception of these missiles underscores the continued effectiveness of Russia’s layered air defence network.
In addition to the missiles, Russian forces also neutralized two Hammer guided bombs, a highly accurate munition known for its precision targeting capabilities. The interception of these bombs prevented what could have been significant damage to critical infrastructure, according to military analysts.
The downing of 147 drones marks one of the most extensive engagements involving Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the conflict to date.
