Hezbollah claims attacks on Israeli forces in support of Gaza resistance

Hezbollah also stated that the operations were a response to the aggression of the Zionist regime’s army against villages in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Hezbollah movement has claimed responsibility for carrying out attacks against Israeli military forces, stating the operations were in support of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and retaliation for Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon, according to reports by Al Mayadeen TV.

In a statement released on Monday, Hezbollah said its fighters had confronted the Israeli army, leading to casualties and injuries among Israeli forces. The attacks were aimed at supporting the people in Gaza and the Palestinian resistance.

Hezbollah also stated that the operations were a response to the aggression of the Zionist regime’s army against villages in southern Lebanon. The group claimed to have targeted two buildings where Israeli military personnel were positioned.

Al Mayadeen reported that over the past months, Hezbollah has intensified attacks on Israeli military bases in northern parts of occupied Palestinian territories due to Israel’s crimes and genocide. These actions have allegedly forced Israeli settlers to evacuate some areas.

The purported Hezbollah strikes come amid an eight-month conflict between Israel and Palestinian militant groups in Gaza, chiefly Hamas. Despite the prolonged assault, Israel has so far failed to achieve its stated goals of dismantling Hamas and securing the release of Israeli captives held by the group.

The violence in Gaza has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis, with over 37,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, killed since hostilities erupted in October 2023, according to Al Mayadeen’s figures.

Neither Israeli officials nor Hezbollah have provided specifics on the claimed attacks and resulting casualties as of now. The development signals potential escalating regional tensions and intervention by the Iranian-backed Lebanese group in the Gaza conflict.
