The Israeli military has announced an intensified campaign against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, following a series of attacks attributed to the Lebanese armed group. This escalation marks the largest exchange of fire between the two entities since the onset of the Gaza conflict.
Israeli forces reported targeting 290 Hezbollah sites across southern Lebanon, with additional strikes on 110 locations occurring in the early hours of the morning. Military sources indicated that these operations would not only continue but also increase in scale. The ongoing exchanges of fire have seen Israeli jets conducting extensive bombings, while Hezbollah has retaliated by launching missiles deeper into Israeli territory.
On the ground, reports revealed that Hezbollah fired two rounds of missiles aimed at Israel’s Ramat David Airbase, located near Haifa. Following this, another missile attack was claimed against the premises of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. Israeli media confirmed that the missile strikes led to injuries, with one man wounded at Ramat David and three others affected in Kiryat Bialik from subsequent attacks.
In a further statement, the Israeli military reported that 85 rockets were fired by Hezbollah towards Haifa on the same morning, with some projectiles resulting in significant impact. Media outlets noted that these attacks caused fires to erupt in northern Israel, damaging homes in the affected areas.
The situation remains fluid as both sides exchange heavy fire, raising concerns about a broader escalation in the region. The Israeli military’s commitment to intensifying operations against Hezbollah underscores the potential for ongoing violence and instability in southern Lebanon.
