Arab league condemns deadly attack on Gaza school

The Arab League has condemned the deadly attack on Gaza’s Al-Tabin school, calling it a “cowardly act” and urging international pressure for a ceasefire and negotiations.

The Arab League has condemned the attack on the Al-Tabin school in Gaza City, which resulted in over 100 deaths and numerous injuries. The school’s role as a shelter for displaced Palestinians made the attack particularly egregious, according to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League.

In a statement released today, Aboul Gheit denounced the incident, calling it “a cowardly act that tarnishes the reputation of the Israeli occupation army.” He highlighted the atrocity of targeting civilians during dawn prayers, describing it as a crime that exceeds the usual brutality associated with Israeli military actions. Aboul Gheit condemned what he referred to as an ongoing genocidal war against Palestinians, emphasizing the profound moral failure displayed by the attackers.

The Secretary-General warned that the ongoing violence essentially provides Israel with a “license to kill” without accountability. He urged the international community to exert meaningful pressure on Israel to participate in serious negotiations aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Aboul Gheit also called for mediation in negotiations for a prisoner swap deal, framing it as a necessary step towards de-escalation.

This condemnation follows a surge in violence in Gaza, where Israeli military operations have intensified. The attack on the Al-Tabin school is the latest in a series of incidents that have drawn widespread international criticism. The Arab League’s response underscores the growing concerns about the humanitarian impact of the conflict, with calls for urgent international intervention to address the crisis.
