The UAE’s ambassador to India, Dr. Abdulnasser Alshaali, and the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, recently spoke about possible new avenues for their countries’ maritime cooperation. The goal of the meeting was to deepen the strategic alliance between India and the United Arab Emirates by promoting bilateral maritime ties and increasing cooperation in port development, shipping, and logistics.
Sonowal outlined India’s comprehensive plan for maritime development, which includes programs funded by the Sagarmala project, which intends to improve coastal shipping, modernize the nation’s ports, and lower logistics costs. He stressed that to promote reciprocal growth in the maritime industry, India is eager to strengthen its ties with the United Arab Emirates, a crucial trading partner. The two parties talked about potential investments in India’s coastal shipping and port infrastructure, which could greatly increase trade connectivity between India and the Middle East.
The UAE, which includes Jebel Ali Port, has shown a great desire to work with India on logistics, shipping, and port infrastructure projects. Potential partnerships in green shipping projects and technologically advanced approaches to boost port operational effectiveness were also discussed at the meeting. Both nations are dedicated to investigating chances for sustainability and innovation in the maritime industry.
India has been trading with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), one of its top trading partners, for a long time. Because it plays a key role in facilitating trade between the two nations, the maritime sector is seen as an essential area of cooperation. The talks between Sonowal and Alshaali serve as more evidence of both countries’ dedication to cooperating on issues related to economic expansion, trade facilitation, and maritime security.
In line with India’s goal of becoming a significant player in international maritime trade, this meeting represents another advancement in the development of the maritime alliance between the UAE and India.
