Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) and Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) have inked a supplementary concession agreement to build PLL’s second LNG jetty in Dahej, Gujarat, marking a momentous milestone for the LNG industry in India. This expansion is consistent with India’s objective of fortifying its LNG infrastructure and augmenting the nation’s energy proficiencies.
The PLL Dahej LNG Terminal area, where PLL has been successfully operating its first LNG jetty for years, is where the new jetty will be located. By guaranteeing continuous and effective LNG handling operations, this expansion project seeks to meet the rising demand for LNG in India and bolster the nation’s energy security. The development, construction, operation, and maintenance of this new jetty are covered by the agreement, which will strengthen India’s standing as a developing LNG hub.
The Gujarat Maritime Board will work closely with Petronet LNG to provide regulatory support and oversight for the project’s implementation. A major government agency and a well-known energy company have partnered to optimize LNG handling capabilities, resulting in a more dependable supply chain for energy distribution throughout the area.
The growing need for LNG in a number of industries, including power generation, transportation, and industrial applications, will be met by the building of the second LNG jetty. Additionally, it will increase the terminal’s handling capacity and allow LNG vessels to turn around faster.
Petronet LNG Limited, one of India’s leading LNG infrastructure companies, has made a substantial contribution to the nation’s increased capacity to import LNG and to the government’s pursuit of a cleaner and sustainable energy mix. Projections indicate that this expansion will support the country’s long-term energy and environmental goals by promoting the use of LNG as a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fossil fuels and by further accelerating economic growth.
