The Gaza Media Authority has strongly condemned continued US military aid to Israel amid rising violence in the region. The statement underscores deep frustration over perceived international complicity in the conflict, prompting calls for an immediate end to military aid.
In a press release today, the Gaza media office accused the United States of enabling the attack on Israel with massive military aid packages. The statement criticized Washington’s role as a supplier of weapons and financial support, which allegedly perpetuates the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.
Ahmed al-Jamal, spokesman for the Gaza media office said that the United States is directly responsible for the atrocities committed against our people. “By arming Israel, the United States participates in the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the loss of innocent lives.”
The reason for the dismissal is heightened tensions in Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes and ground operations have resulted in heavy casualties and widespread destruction. The Gaza Environmental Office called on the international community to pressure the US government to end military aid to Israel and support efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.
The United States has long been a staunch ally of Israel, providing billions of dollars in military aid each year. This support is considered vital to Israel’s defence and security amid ongoing regional conflicts and threats.
Critics argue that US military aid to Israel fuels instability in the region and undermines efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In recent years, demands for conditional aid, linked to compliance with international humanitarian law and respect for human rights, have increased.
“We call on the Biden administration to immediately cease all military support to Israel,” urged Ahmed al-Jamal. “The world must recognize the plight of Palestinians and act decisively to end the occupation and achieve justice.”
The statement from the Gaza Media Office has resonated with international advocacy groups and human rights organizations, who have long campaigned for a reassessment of U.S. foreign policy towards Israel and Palestine.
