On Monday, state media in Iran confirmed the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister in a helicopter accident.
The aircraft, which was also carrying other officials, had gone missing in the mountains of northwestern Iran.

Search and rescue teams were able to locate the helicopter, but according to earlier reports from state media, “no sign of life” was found among the passengers and crew.
