US President Donald Trump delivered a characteristically confident update on the high-stakes US-Iran peace talks currently underway in Islamabad, Pakistan, stating that negotiations have stretched on for many hours with an uncertain outcome — but emphasizing that America stands strong regardless of the result.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said: “Talks have been going on for hours… outcome uncertain. Deal or no deal, U.S. position remains strong — we win either way.”
The trilateral peace talks involving the United States, Iran, and host Pakistan entered a prolonged phase on Saturday, with sessions reportedly continuing well past midnight and into the early hours of Sunday in Islamabad.
The US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance along with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, has been engaged in direct and mediated discussions with Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Pakistani leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, continues to play a key mediating role.
