Sources have confirmed to the BBC news channel. That she is on the list of individuals to be targeted by the EU. Since she is closest to President Putin. According to AFP. She will be targeted for her part in disseminating the Kremlin propaganda. The draft document does not name her as his partner, and the EU has not yet  officially signed off on the proposal.

None of the claims made above are accepted by either Ms. Alina Kabaeva or President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

A few days ago the US and UK imposed sanctions on his ex-wife Mrs. Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Ocheretnaya. As well as his daughters Mrs. Maria Vorontsoa and Ms. Katerina Thikonova.

In 2008, the Moskovsky Korrespondent newspaper reported that he was planning to marry Ms. Alina Kabaeva. Both Mrs. Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Ocheretnaya and Ms. Alina Kabaeva have allegedly rejected the story. However, soon after, the government  shut the newspaper office. President Putin and Mrs. Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Ocheretnaya would announce their split five years later.

The Wall Street Journal has suggested that the US is reluctant to sanction Ms. Alina Kabaeva. Because the fear will create the “so personal a blow” effect for President Putin that it may further escalate tensions.

Not today or tomorrow. But one fine day we might see European Union getting tough calls on the said matter.
