In the escalating US-Iran conflict, Iranian state and semi-official media outlets have stated that no damage occurred to the country’s critical oil infrastructure on Kharg Island after recent US bombing raids. The strikes, confirmed by US President Donald Trump, targeted military installations on the island but deliberately spared its vital oil export terminals.

US Strikes Target Military Assets Only

Trump announced that US forces conducted one of the “most powerful bombing raids” in the region’s history, claiming they “totally obliterated every military target” on Kharg Island. According to US statements, the operation focused on air defense systems, naval bases, airport facilities, and other military infrastructure. Trump emphasized that oil-related assets were intentionally avoided “for reasons of decency,” while issuing a stern warning: any continued Iranian interference with shipping through the Strait of Hormuz could lead to future strikes on the island’s oil network.

Reports from Iranian sources, including the semi-official Fars News Agency, described hearing at least 15 explosions on the island, with thick smoke observed. However, they explicitly confirmed that strikes hit military sites such as an air defense facility, a naval base, the airport control tower, and related structures—but no oil infrastructure was affected.
