Iran Helicopter Crash: President Ibrahim Raisi and foreign minister confirmed dead in crash

On Monday, state media in Iran confirmed the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister in a helicopter accident.

The aircraft, which was also carrying other officials, had gone missing in the mountains of northwestern Iran.


Search and rescue teams were able to locate the helicopter, but according to earlier reports from state media, “no sign of life” was found among the passengers and crew

A senior Iranian official confirmed the news ti Reuters and requested to be anonymous considering the sensitivity of the case.

The helicopter crashed into the mountains and the country confirmed that there were no survivors left.

President Ibrahim was elected in 2021 and was 63 years old. Several countries including India expressed their concern and offered assist.
