China’s Ministry of Commerce has stated that it remains open to engaging in economic and trade negotiations with the United States, while calling for a resolution of bilateral issues based on mutual respect. The statement comes amid ongoing tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
According to sources cited by agencies, the ministry reaffirmed that it is maintaining working-level communication with its U.S. counterparts. At the same time, it urged Washington to stop using threats and blackmail in diplomatic and trade dealings.
The ministry added that China is willing to expand “mutual opening up” with Europe and intends to keep dialogue channels open with the West, especially on trade matters.
“China is open to negotiations with the US in economic and trade areas,” the ministry said, emphasizing the importance of cooperation over confrontation.
The comments come at a time when the U.S. has been weighing new tariffs and trade restrictions on China, prompting renewed friction between the two sides. The call for respectful and constructive engagement signals Beijing’s attempt to manage escalating tensions through diplomatic channels.
