According to the Telegraph, the UK would consider enforcing COVID-19 restrictions for Chinese arrivals on Thursday, including demanding coronavirus testing.
According to the story, officials from the Department for Transport, the Home Office, and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are scheduled to decide today whether the UK should follow the United States and Italy in putting Covid restrictions on Chinese travellers.
The limits were “not anything we are looking at,” the Prime Minister’s spokesperson said earlier on Wednesday, according to the report.
The DHSC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the report from Reuters.
On Wednesday, the US mandated required COVID-19 tests on Chinese tourists, while Italy demanded COVID-19 antigen swabs and viral sequencing for all Chinese visitors.
