6.1 magnitude earthquake hits Japan’s Hokkaido

According to the US Geological Survey, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido on Saturday.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 hit off the eastern side of Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

According to the National Research Center for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 61 kilometres (38 miles) off the Nemuro peninsula (NIED).

The officials have not issued a tsunami warning.

Another quake struck Hokkaido, one of Japan’s main northern islands, a few days ago. On Monday, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake devastated Japan’s Hokkaido.
