Ashley Sutton, who plays the character of Hannah on Yellowjackets, shared an emotional experience after filming her final scene for the show’s third season. In an interview with Deadline, Sutton described her character as the most “honest” version of herself yet. Hannah, who navigates the treacherous world of the cannibals, betrays Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) to help Natalie (Sophie Thatcher). Sutton revealed that her character is incredibly resourceful and knows how to survive, but her ultimate goal is to return home. “The intention is always to go home. She doesn’t want to stay out here,” she teased.

In the dramatic season 3 finale, Hannah makes a heart-wrenching decision to kill her fellow captive, Kodiak (Joel McHale), after a failed escape attempt. Although she initially pledges loyalty to the emerging Antler Queen, Hannah secretly reaches out to Natalie to confirm she’s still on her side, marking a pivotal moment of survival and loyalty.

Sutton reflected on the emotional toll of filming this scene with Thatcher, noting how deeply connected they both felt to their roles. “After that last take, they called ‘cut,’ and [Thatcher] and I just look at each other and we just start sobbing,” Sutton recalled. Both actresses felt that their characters were desperately fighting to return to safety, and the scene’s intensity was reflected in their shared emotions.

Sutton also honored her onscreen boyfriend, Edwin (played by Nelson Franklin), whose tragic death at the hands of the Yellowjackets’ cannibalistic tribe was a heartbreaking moment in the series. Sutton described the tribute to Franklin’s character as “really beautiful and really cool,” adding a poignant touch to the storyline.

The series, which centers on a high school girls’ soccer team stranded in the Canadian wilderness after a tragic plane crash, has captivated audiences with its unique blend of high school drama and survival horror. As the team battles both the elements and their own darker instincts, the show continues to draw intrigue. While Yellowjackets has not yet been renewed for a fourth season, its growing popularity suggests that more twists and turns are on the horizon.

For now, fans can catch the thrilling third season of Yellowjackets streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime and Amazon Prime.
