Marvel fans can get excited again because X Men ’97 is coming back with a brand new season. The first season reminded everyone of the old classic superhero cartoons. The story felt nostalgic. The animation looked like the golden days. That is one big reason why the show became so popular. Now Season 2 is officially happening, and people are waiting to know what will happen next.

Marvel has not shared the exact release date yet. But during New York Comic Con, the studio said Season 2 is expected to arrive in Summer 2026. The show has been in production for some time, so this long wait feels a little surprising. Still, fans finally have a window to look forward to.

There is no public trailer right now. A small group of people got to see the first sneak peek at New York Comic Con, but it has not been uploaded online. Reports say the trailer picks up the story right after Season 1. Bishop brings Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee back to their real timeline after their time travel. The trailer also shows Apocalypse for the first time in the series. He appears in his purple comic accurate look. It seems like he will be the main villain of the new season.

Marvel has not confirmed any new cast members, but it is expected that the main voices will return. Fans will most likely hear Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, Holly Chou as Jubilee, J.P. Karliak as Morph, Allison Sealy Smith as Storm, George Buza as Beast, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Isaac Robinson Smith as Bishop, Ross Marquand as Professor X, Chris Potter as Cable, Adetokumbosh M Cormack as Apocalypse, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler, and Gates McFadden as Rachel Summers. Most of them worked on the original X Men animated series and continue to bring the characters to life.

The plot of Season 2 can go in many directions because Season 1 left a lot of open threads. Jean and Scott were pushed far into the future where they met a young Cable and a woman named Mother Askani. Forge was revealed to be the last X Man left on Earth. Cable, Sunspot, and Jubilee are alive but missing. Bishop has returned. A post credit scene shows Genosha completely destroyed. Apocalypse lifts Gambit’s card from the ground. Another scene shows a mysterious man calling himself En Sbah Nur in ancient Egypt. This confirms that Apocalypse will play a huge role in the new season.

The makers have hinted that Season 2 will be darker and more emotional. Jake Castorena, one of the key creators, said everything in the show is planned very carefully. Ross Marquand, who voices Professor X, shared that the new season shocked him with how dark it is. He even said that many characters die and he was surprised that Disney approved such a heavy storyline.

So fans can expect a season that is more intense than before. The story will explore new angles and dive into moments the original show never touched. Now everyone is just waiting for Marvel and Disney to announce the final release date and finally share the official trailer.
