We are Nagamine Tatsuya\u2019s family. He had been undergoing medical treatment since last year, but he passed away on August 20 at the age of 53.\u201d They also noted that his funeral was held privately with only close relatives present. A private memorial service took place at Toei Animation on 13 November, which the family expressed deep gratitude for, praising Toei for arranging the event with care.<\/p>\n<p>Nagamine was regarded as one of Toei Animation\u2019s most reliable creative forces. His direction on the Wano arc of <em>One Piece<\/em> earned particular acclaim for elevating the anime\u2019s visual storytelling. Beyond <em>One Piece<\/em>, he contributed to major projects including <em>Yes! Precure 5<\/em>, <em>ONE PIECE FILM Z<\/em>, and <em>Dragon Ball Super: Broly<\/em>, cementing his reputation as a visionary in the anime industry.<\/p>\n<p>The family also shared a personal glimpse of Nagamine, describing him as \u201ca gentle, warm, and incredibly supportive husband and father\u201d who faced his illness with determination. \u201cHe stayed motivated by the hope of returning home and returning to his work,\u201d they wrote. They added, \u201cWe are deeply saddened and full of regret. But we are proud of him for always putting his whole heart into his work, parenting, and daily life. We imagine he is now resting above the clouds, reunited with senior colleagues and creators, perhaps talking about making something together again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Concluding their message, Nagamine\u2019s family thanked fans for their support and urged them to continue enjoying his works, noting, \u201cThe sky over Nerima, home to the Oizumi Studio where he spent more than half of his life, is clear today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tatsuya Nagamine leaves behind a lasting legacy in anime\u2014not only through his unforgettable direction but also through his kindness, dedication, and passion.
