The English version of the famous South Korean thriller Squid Game is finally coming to life. Earlier, there were only whispers about a possible crossover with the original show, but now it\u2019s officially happening and set to start next year. Collider reports that the project will begin production soon with renowned director David Fincher working alongside the original creator, Hwang Dong Hyuk.<\/p>\n
Squid Game: America is set to start filming on February 26, 2026. The main locations for shooting will likely be Los Angeles and other parts of California. David Fincher will be the lead director, while Hwang Dong Hyuk and Kim Ji Yeon, CEO of Pertsman Studio, will produce the series.<\/p>\n
The American version won\u2019t retell the original story. Instead, it will exist in the same universe as the Korean Squid Game, running parallel to it. The show will explore cultural differences and how the games might play out in an American setting. Cate Blanchett, who made a cameo in Squid Game season 3, is expected to appear in the spin-off too, taking over a role similar to Gong Yoo\u2019s character from the original.<\/p>\n
No official statements have come from the director or Hwang Dong Hyuk yet, but the information on the Film & Television Industry Alliance website gives a clear idea of what to expect.
