IndiGo, India\u2019s biggest airline, has turned its earlier agreement with Airbus into a confirmed order for 30 A350 aircraft, doubling its total A350 count to 60.<\/p>\n
The move marks a major step in IndiGo\u2019s plan to enter the long-haul international market. The airline aims to use the A350\u2019s long range and fuel efficiency to expand its global network and connect India with more destinations worldwide.<\/p>\n
CEO Pieter Elbers called Friday \u201ca special day\u201d for the company, saying the new order strengthens IndiGo\u2019s commitment to global growth and better connectivity for travelers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe conversion of this MoU into a firm order for 30 additional A350-900s shows our confidence in the future of Indian aviation and our partnership with Airbus,\u201d Elbers said. \u201cIt also builds on the strong start of our long-haul operations.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the order supports India\u2019s vision of becoming a global aviation hub and IndiGo\u2019s goal of positioning itself as a major international airline by 2030. The new aircraft will be delivered over the next few years and will help expand the airline\u2019s reach to new global destinations.<\/p>\n
Beno\u00eet de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus\u2019s Commercial Aircraft division, said the A350\u2019s efficiency, range, and comfort make it ideal for IndiGo\u2019s growth plans.<\/p>\n
