Katie Slaton, known for her appearances on TLC\u2019s 1000-Lb. Sisters<\/em> alongside her cousins Tammy and Amy Slaton, has passed away at the age of 37. The heartbreaking news was confirmed on Tuesday, August 26, by Tammy and Amy\u2019s sister, Amanda Halterman, who shared a touching tribute on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this,\u201d Halterman wrote. \u201cMy little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katie passed away on Monday, August 25, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, according to her obituary on Whitsell Funeral Home\u2019s website. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, August 29, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Her Battle with Stage 4 Cancer<\/strong>
Earlier this year, Katie was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare form of stomach cancer. She began chemotherapy treatments shortly after her diagnosis. Amanda had shared updates on social media about Katie\u2019s health, writing in January, \u201cMy cousin, Katie Slaton, is bravely fighting stage 4 cancer, and we\u2019re asking for your support in any way you can offer it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tammy Slaton also reached out to fans for prayers and donations to support her cousin\u2019s treatment. \u201cY\u2019all I\u2019m so sorry to be asking a big favor like this but if anyone can help, even if it\u2019s a dollar would help my cousin out so much,\u201d Tammy posted, adding, \u201cOur family just found out about her having cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Remembering Katie Slaton<\/strong>
In her tribute, Amanda described Katie as \u201cthe life of the party and my best friend.\u201d She added, \u201cI know both our grandparents and friends were there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt, uncle, and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family also thanked fans for supporting Katie during her health battle. Amanda wrote, \u201cThank you all who have come out and supported her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katie appeared most notably on 1000-Lb. Sisters<\/em> Season 5, when Tammy was released from a weight loss rehab center. The TLC series, which follows Tammy and Amy as they navigate the challenges of obesity, has been airing since 2020.<\/p>\n
