Severance star Britt Lower<\/strong> treated fans to an Easter egg during her Emmys speech on Sunday (14 September) \u2014 and the internet has gone wild.<\/p>\n

The American actress, 40, took home the gong for Lead Actress in a Drama Series<\/strong>, for her portrayal of both Helena<\/strong>, the daughter of Lumen\u2019s chief executive, and Helly R<\/strong>, in the Apple TV show.<\/p>\n

For those unfamiliar with the show, it hit screens back in 2022 and boasts a star-studded cast, including Adam Scott, John Turturro, and Christopher Walken, among others. The series follows a group of employees at a biotechnology firm, Lumon Industries<\/strong>, who have undergone a process called \u201cseverance.\u201d This procedure wipes the staff members\u2019 memories of the outside world while they\u2019re at work, leaving them with no recollection of their jobs once they return home.<\/p>\n

When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it sparks a journey to discover the truth about their jobs. The second season premiered on 17 January, and season three is already in the works, much to fans\u2019 delight.<\/p>\n

After Lower accepted her Emmy, she said:<\/p>\n

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed something on the back of her speech notes<\/strong> \u2014 three words written in black ink: \u201cLET ME OUT.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the show, Helly R. (Helena\u2019s \u201cinnie\u201d) writes this same message on her forearms in a desperate attempt to escape Lumon Industries. Fans were instantly obsessed with the reference, calling it \u201ciconic\u201d and praising Lower\u2019s cleverness.<\/p>\n

One fan tweeted: \u201cSo f**king cool,\u201d<\/em> while another wrote: \u201cBrilliant.\u201d<\/em> Others chimed in with comments like \u201cThat\u2019s so meta I love it\u201d<\/em> and \u201cThe cast and crew on Severance are dedicated to the subtle clues. Even during an acceptance speech.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
