But in a recent interview on The Breakfast Club<\/em>, the comedian and TV host peeled back the curtain on why<\/em> his fatherhood journey has unfolded the way it has.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t like I was acting out,\u201d Cannon explained. \u201cIt was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process because I could do it, because I had the money [and] because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move. Then, obviously, life happens as well. It wasn\u2019t like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m gonna go have 12 kids.\u2019 It was more about, like, \u2018Yo, I\u2019m gonna just live life and have fun and whatever happens happens. I can handle it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Cannon went on to say that he now recognizes his choices were tied to deeper issues. \u201cIf I\u2019d thought the process through a little bit more, if I\u2019d taken the time to actually do the inner work, things might have been a little different in certain scenarios.\u201d<\/p>\n When pressed on whether that reflection meant he wouldn\u2019t have had as many children, he hesitated. \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause I\u2019ve always said this: every child that I had was made out of love, and there were strong relationships. But if I would have did the work [and] the healing after getting divorced, I probably would have took my time in a lot of other scenarios.\u201d<\/p>\n He also acknowledged the potential long-term impact of his choices, admitting that in some ways he\u2019s \u201cleaving trauma every step of the way instead of fixing it from its origin.\u201d<\/p>\n As for whether the father of 12 plans to expand his family further, Cannon has hit pause\u2014for now. \u201cI really don\u2019t know. I\u2019m being honest,\u201d he told People<\/em> earlier this year. \u201cI\u2019m having so much fun in this space right now, and the way my bank account is set up, I\u2019m going to press hold on this 12 for right now. Three years from now, five years from now\u2014who knows?
