Tom Holland has revealed that he\u2019s planning to take a step back from acting in 2027 to avoid overworking himself. The Spider-Man<\/em> star opened up in a recent conversation with British GQ<\/strong>, saying that after a packed schedule in 2026, he intends to carve out more time for rest and balance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel really blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go,\u201d Holland said. \u201cYou can\u2019t be in every movie, and you can\u2019t do your best work when you\u2019re burnt out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor already has two high-profile projects lined up for next year. Holland will return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em>, Marvel\u2019s highly anticipated fourth installment in the franchise. He will also star as Telemachus in Christopher Nolan\u2019s epic The Odyssey<\/em>. Both films are slated for summer 2026 releases, making it one of Holland\u2019s busiest years yet.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his approach to work, Holland emphasized the importance of boundaries. \u201cWhat I\u2019ve learnt is that it\u2019s important to set boundaries, to be mindful about overworking,\u201d he told the magazine. \u201cI\u2019ve got a slightly busy year next year, and then I\u2019ll probably take a bit more time off in 2027. We\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s comments build on the growing conversation about mental health in Hollywood. In 2023, he stepped away from acting and social media after filming The Crowded Room<\/em>, explaining that the intense project left him emotionally drained. The year off, he said, was something he \u201cneeded\u201d after acting continuously since childhood.<\/p>\n

During that break, Holland discovered a newfound joy in golf, even winning a tournament alongside his brothers and English golf pro Tommy Fleetwood. \u201cIt was the best day of my life,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI called my lady and was like, \u2018Listen, I\u2019m thinking of turning pro.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Holland has also been candid about the possibility of stepping away from Hollywood entirely. In a Men\u2019s Health<\/strong> interview earlier this year, he revealed that he plans to retire from acting once he becomes a father. \u201cWhen I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,\u201d he shared. \u201cGolf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, who is engaged to his Spider-Man<\/em> co-star Zendaya, has made it clear that a quieter family life is part of his long-term vision.
