Mexican equities closed higher on Friday, with strong gains in the industrials, consumer goods and services, and consumer staples sectors pushing the market to a fresh record. The S&P\/BMV IPC index rose 0.96%, reaching its highest level ever.<\/p>\n
Among the top performers, Orbia Advance Corporation climbed 4.83% to close at 13.25. Grupo Televisa gained 4.32%, finishing at 9.18, while America Movil rose 3.08% to 18.73. America Movil also touched a new 52-week high during the session.<\/p>\n
On the other side, some stocks ended the day lower. Becle, the company behind the Cuervo tequila brand, slipped 1.90% to 20.10. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico lost 1.47% to 458.29, and Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte declined 1.42% to 248.88.<\/p>\n
Market breadth was positive, with 177 stocks advancing, 70 falling, and 9 unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n
In commodities, December gold futures rose 1.02% to $3,416.25 an ounce. Crude oil for October delivery gained 0.36% to settle at $63.75 a barrel, while Brent crude for October edged up 0.18% to $67.79.<\/p>\n
In currency trading, the peso strengthened against the dollar, with USD\/MXN falling 0.81% to 18.58. The euro gained slightly against the peso, with EUR\/MXN up 0.11% to 21.78. Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index dropped 0.92% to 97.60.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
