Former U.S. vice president Mike Pence has withdrawn his name from the upcoming presidential elections in 2024.<\/p>\n
Pence has served as vice president for four years under former president Donald Trump, however, he refused to carry out Trump\u2019s demand to block the 2020 election results. He ended his bid for presidential race with a final appeal for his party to return to conservative principles and resist the \u201csiren song of populism.\u201d<\/p>\n
The surprise announcement was made at the end of his remarks addressing the crowd of Jewish Republican donors in Las Vegas, and was met with gasps of surprise. He received a warm welcome with standing ovation as he started his speech with full throated endorsement for Israeli military in the ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza.<\/p>\n
He then pivoted to a rather \u201cpersonal note,\u201d saying that after much prayer and deliberation, he has decided to drop out of the race.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s become clear to me that this is not my time,\u201d stated Pence.<\/p>\n
It has not yet been cleared as to why Pence backed off from the race.<\/p>\n
